So, nearly 40 of the folks on our team are Government Licensed Security Advisors who come and visit you at your home or business and complete a comprehensive site survey to see what is worth protecting to you. Some companies refer to them as salespeople but they are Security Advisors and their job is to know about all of the products and services we represent and make recommendations to you on what is most suitable for you, for your family or business, for your budget and your needs. They are professional listeners. The average age of our Security Advisors is 58 years old and many of them have been with us for 10 to 25 years now. We don’t represent one product as no one product is right for every situation, but part of your security comes from knowing we recommended the right solution for your peace-of-mind. Face to face!   • We own our own Emergency Response Centre(monitoring station). This is quite unique as most companies use third party monitoring stations which are often located down in the US or elsewhere. It is common to pay a local installer to install an alarm system; You pay him a monthly fee and then he pays someone else to take care of you. We see this a lot with call centres in many industries where you know you are no longer dealing with anyone in Canada. These third-party call centres aren’t chosen because they are famous for providing ‘excellence’ in customer satisfaction – it is because of ‘profit’. It is simply cheaper to get someone else to do it, especially if they are in a country with a cheap labour force like the Philippines or India. Canada has third party monitoring stations that provide monitoring to some alarm companies, but often it is an accountant that points out the profits that can be made when they move that monitoring elsewhere. Price’s Alarms provides the monitoring for our own customers and we don’t sell that service to others. We could, but we don’t. Simply, we don’t want to lose our focus and our focus is and always has been taking care of our customers. After all, you are paying us to take care of you, your home or business, your family or employees and you trust us to provide you with peace-of-mind knowing everything is in good hands. Our multi-million dollar ULC certified Emergency Response Centre is located inside our head office, a building we own, which is staffed 24/7 by our own employees who are highly trained and licensed for your protection.   • Security is more than just alarms. Camera systems, video doorbells, access control, medical alert, elevator monitoring, fire panel monitoring, lone worker solutions, temperature monitoring of computer rooms and freezers, flood monitoring, gas detection and more come together as our world of security so that our customers can enjoy the peace-of-mind for more than just burglary protection.
  • The equipment. Price’s Alarms uses all of the major manufacturers of security equipment. Industry standards in equipment. While we have never focussed on selling equipment necessarily, it is worth mentioning because apples aren’t always apples. Some companies are only lending you equipment and to cancel you must figure our how to detach equipment without causing damage to either the equipment or your home or business and return that equipment to complete the cancellation. Other companies force you to purchase the equipment but they don’t tell you that this equipment cannot be used with any other company if you cancel – it is proprietary and will not operate for anyone else. The equipment you purchase from Price’s Alarms is yours and will work for you regardless of paying us for monitoring. Furthermore, any real security company can take over our equipment to provide you with monitoring. We have no tricks up our sleeve to lock you in. We aren’t bundling together with other services so you can’t cancel – we want you to want to stay with us because you trust us to deliver what we promised.
  • Wired or Wireless Security Systems. Many companies tell you everything is wireless now but this is an outright lie. Wireless security is great nowadays but it isn’t necessarily the best. If you are building a new home and you have the opportunity to wire for a security system – this is best for many reasons. With a wired security system everything just works, where with wireless, sometimes the signals cant make the distance or the signals get jammed. Remember, we are talking about SECURITY so it is important that reliability is the best it can be – after all, we are talking about life safety. Plus, wireless devices all contain batteries and batteries need to be replaced sooner than most manufacturers suggest and having a big door contact on windows doesn’t always look great. The real truth is that many security companies only sell wireless security systems because they are easy to install – in and out and they get paid. Price’s Alarms always wants to install the best security system for your needs and many times this is a wired system not wireless! We sell both. Everyone should or they aren’t a real security company! Our Security Technicians have to be talented and well trained for this very reason and experience counts.
  • We serve you at your location – we call it Service! It isn’t a unique idea, it’s how things used to be back in the old days. We aren’t a mail-order business, we don’t provide DIY and you won’t find us as a special at Costco. It is part of the reason we don’t focus on the equipment so much but instead what the equipment does to support us in the ‘service’ we provide. We handle the installation of the equipment completely and we don’t take shortcuts. We want the equipment to work reliably for many years to come and our Security Technicians are highly trained, supported and licensed – Plus, they are all employees not contractors.
  • Agreement terms for alarm monitoring can be month to month, 12, 24 or 36 months. Again, we aren’t looking to lock you in forever, we want you to ‘want’ to deal with Price’s Alarms because we take such good care of you. Many alarm companies hide the fact that the agreement is for 3 to 5 years and in some cases to cancel you need to contact the company’s lawyers. With us, the only reason to sign up for longer (to a maximum of 36 months) is an increased incentive towards no-charge security equipment. Once your initial term has been completed, you are simply on a month to month agreement – we don’t try to lock you in. Isn’t it refreshing to know you’re not forced to stay – instead, you get to choose to stay. It is part of what motivates our team to do such a great job in taking care of you.
  • The cost of a security system depends on your needs. As we say, every home, business and need is different and the right solution for you is unlikely right for the next guy. We know that once you enjoy the benefits of having a security system for peace-of-mind, you’ll never want to live without it. So, we do our best to cover the costs of the basic security system for each new customer knowing that after enjoying the benefits – you’ll be hooked and will be a customer forever. Therefore, we have different incentive dollar amounts based on your commitment to us for security service. Most people start off with a three-year agreement earning them a $700 incentive for free equipment – which is enough to give you a complete security system. Depending on your needs, more system is sometimes required and we work hard to keep our pricing the best it can be while still ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Already have a security system? This is where we shine in comparison to some companies pretending to offer security service. After more than 40 years of installing and servicing security systems, we’ve seen every make and model from every manufacturer. We are the experts. So much so, that we are working on developing our own Security Museum within our head office where you can come and see how much our industry has changed throughout the years. Therefore, if you have a security system already in place, it doesn’t need to be thrown away for a replacement. We will come see your system, evaluate it and present you with our recommendations based on the age, quality and capability of the system. We service everything and maintain a large warehouse of parts for systems that are in some cases originally developed more than 20 years ago. Wireless systems have made advancements in the last 10 years but a wired door contact from 25 years ago is no different than a brand new one today. We have seen a lot of different equipment throughout the years from a lot of different manufacturers and there is nothing we can’t do – nothing! But, because of our knowledge in this industry, we have established our own rule book for best practices in security. This knowledge comes to you at no additional charge. We test everything before we choose to sell it – tested by guys in our company who have been in our business for more than 40 years. We are often the first to test equipment for manufacturers and give their research and development team lists of deficiencies before they take a product to market. Remember, Price’s Alarms is Canada’s oldest security company, we are highly respected and carry a knowledge within our industry which is second to none.
